Visual Impairment Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Temporary Assignment | Further Education College

Start Date: 14th September
Hours: 30 hours per week
Working Pattern: Tuesday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm
Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Contract: Temporary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Visual Impairment Learning Support Assistant to join a Further Education College on a temporary basis from 14th September.

This rewarding role involves providing specialist support to a learner with a visual impairment, helping them to fully engage with their studies and college life. You will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to ensure the student can access learning materials, participate in lessons, and achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to a student with a visual impairment.
• Assist with accessing learning materials and classroom activities.
• Support the learner in developing independence and confidence.
• Liaise with teaching staff to ensure appropriate adjustments are in place.
• Support the use of assistive technologies and specialist equipment where required.
• Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as an LSA, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or similar role.
• Experience supporting learners with visual impairments is essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
